AREAS OF PRACTICE

MEDIA RELATIONS

Media relations at JPR is tightly focused on getting the best business journalists in the media to cover our clients when the time is right for the client. Our success in this practice is predicated on an intimate knowledge of how the editorial at major media outlets is proposed, produced, packaged, and distributed. The work at JPR does not end when a story runs in a national outlet. Upon the initial run of a story, the JPR team distributes the story to other outlets across the spectrum in print, broadcast, digital, and social media. The coverage is carefully placed on the clients’ owned media – the corporate web site and/or the company’s social media channels – where it will often, with the help of search engine optimization, provide third-party verification to the client for years to come.

 

CORORATE POSITIONING

We are often retained to develop and manage corporate positioning programs to shape an executive’s image among his key constituencies. Our work here at JPR with c-suite executives is tightly focused on preparing and presenting them to not only elite business media, but also, to communicating their message via their corporation’s own media (company websites, YouTube channels, etc.). We work closely with c-suite executives on their external communications at elite conferences, and we help them with internal communications to employees.

CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS

Simply put, our job at JPR when we take on a crisis client is to make the bad news go away in a situation where it’s often bet-the-company stakes. The former investigative journalists on the JPR staff understand the editorial process at print, broadcast, and digital media, and are not intimidated by the pressure of the media. Most importantly in today’s technology, JPR staff can, under extreme deadlines, create owned content that a client can push into the real time digital universe – an effort often critical to a client controlling his or her own story. Our crisis work is often confidential, but our experience includes managing the following types of crisis: adversary-driven campaigns, executive malfeasance, financial issues, investigations and hearings, labor disputes, reputation management issues, and workplace issues.

LITIGATION SUPPORT

The JPR team has supported lawyers in federal and state courts in complex cases encompassing extremely high stakes. These cases involve, but are not limited to, international money laundering allegations, product liability, software piracy, and criminal tax cases that have ensnared well-known individuals. In every case, JPR professionals worked closely with attorneys to ensure all issues involving confidentialy, discovery, and privilege for the legal team were protected. JPR professionals have been retained, in some cases, more than two years prior to trial. At JPR, litigation support involves the fundamental understanding of the various ways the news media covers litigation. JPR’s deep knowledge of how a client’s case can play in the court of public opinion, and eventually to a jury, has been critical to JPR’s success.

ENTERTAINMENT AND REAL ESTATE

At JPR, 70 percent of our corporate communications business (the non-cris, non-litigation support services) is concentrated in the business verticals of the Los Angeles entertainment and commercial real estate business. We have represented some of the most successful independent producers (Mandeville Films), trade organizations (National Association of THeatre Owners), cutting edge distributors (Gravitas Ventures), and entertainment tech plays (Zealot Networks). On the real estate side, JPR represents a number of developers and financiers, including Astani Enterprises, one of the leading developers of mixed-use rental properties in Downtown Los Angeles, and financier Township Capital.

DIGITAL SERVICES

Companies who wish to tell their story in today’s world must navigate through a labyrinth of tradional media, digital media, and social media. For years, JPR has depended on our digital team to guide our clients through the digital matrix.
